Have you ever poked at a plant or placed your hand on a limb, and it moved? Then you are among those that know camouflage is a powerful tool that many insects and animals possess. And, what is more, camouflage is not rare; it is extensive in the natural world. It only makes good sense that bigfoot was designed to blend in with his environment. This would be another sound reason we do not see the animal as we are hiking and hunting. We simply were not meant to see him.

Perhaps you remember the experiment my husband and I put together a couple of years ago. We were at the time dealing with the problem of why bigfoot was not often seen in the forest. It seems many people believe if bigfoot exists, then, all those hunters and hikers in the forests would be filing reports to the proper authorities, so numerous in fact that there would have to be a special department set up by congress or the president. (Sorry got carried away.) The experiment was simple. Dressed all in black, cap pulled down to shade his face, and tucked under the skirt of an evergreen, Chris was difficult to spot and only fifteen or so feet from me and the camera. When he pushed his cap back to proper placement, unzipped his black jacket, exposing his white shirt, he was easy to spot.

If one researches the bigfoot sighting reports, he will soon discover that the animal is sighted only when he’s stepped onto a road in the glare of headlights, walked between trees backlit by moonlight or rising sun, or the like. There are numerous videos on Youtube claiming that a black shadow in the thick forest is a bigfoot, some claiming a whole family can be picked out. They put great effort into circling the faces or forms of these black shadows, so we can see what they see. Hey, on my kitchen counter in the tile design is the very likeness of a ferocious bigfoot face, and the same goes for the wood whirls on my bedroom door. I’m not making this up. I’ll take photos to prove it.

I spoke to a man last week who said he knew a fellow once who was routinely visited by a family of bigfoot. Could there possibly be truth in this? If it is true, then this will probably be one of the ways “science” will study these animals. Until next week, Linda Newton-Perry
