Announcement: Bigfoot Ballyhoo has been under attack, in the past, by a couple of people who wished Ballyhoo and its editors to look as if they were hoaxing information.

One of the biggest examples would be the claim that we made up the ESP Team, Bill Emery, Cole Saxton and the late Hank Parchell. A well-known bigfoot researcher found photos that looked like Emery, Saxton and Parchell. He claimed the three to be the real men and not any part of the ESP Team. (In fact, he claimed there was no ESP Team).

And then while the Emery Team was processing trail cam photos a couple were sent to Ballyhoo. These photos turned out to be well-known bigfoot photos, one from a movie and one of Patty. The technician’s son that was processing the trail cam photos replaced the real photos with fakes. In good faith Emery sent the dallied-with photos to Ballyhoo. When it was found out what happened it was explained.

Another photo of a footprint with a believable history was given Ballyhoo to post. Turned out to be Tim Fasano’s photo from Florida. Again, we’ve given explanations for each occurrence. We were hoaxed.

We in time recognized each hoax and explained what happened

Jan says "... talk to the right people before making statements about these files being faked!"

I have taken some advice here and called the DOI in DC. From there I was transferred to Phoenix. After just a little work on my part, I got the scoop on 4277DOI.

It is as stated by Debbie. Closed and Sealed.

There are two other case files that are continent with 4377 .4377 -A file with the same number and 4362 A which is a supposed speculated medical report on 4377. These files ARE NOT VIEWABLE UNDER FOIA. Do some homework, make some calls, but talk to the right people before making statements about these files being faked!

I will join with Marcy to say thank you Gordon. If more people like you did some investigation on their own we would live in a better world. It is all tot easy to know nothing of an event and call it a hoax only because of our own ignorance.

This was eons ago and people think newspapers are the proof of everything. Most people don't know back in '62 in Oregon there was not very many papers with a staff to do these stories. In fact many places in Oregon still don't have a local paper or the means to look up something in the past. My aunt lives in Merlin in those years and saw the picture of the beast two times at different places.

Many people felt back then this was a local event and the outsiders didn't need to know. In 1962 if this animal would have been showed on major TV, people wouldn't have thought anything about it because very few knew of bigfoot then.

Why not bigfoot? If...

Gorden Chillress researches the 1962 animal with positive results.

Gorden Chillress, Ashland Oregon has left a new comment on your post "Truth...It will not break...":

After looking through the older post and current ones here on this blog, I decided that it's my duty to find out if there is any essence to this 1962 Bigfoot story for my own peace of mind. I visited several local papers in this area and was told that the reason papers didn't print the article was that the forest service had the remains moved before any local papers could get there, and they were all covering storm damage which was very substantial in the area.

Then I was directed to talk with a retired policeman from Cave Junction. He is in a retirement home now but was a fountain of information on the creature found that year. He told me the forest service kept it quiet as to the whereabouts of the finding of the Bigfoot. He said the storm damage itself was overwhelming to all the local governments, so it was not high on anybody's list to make a big deal of what was believed to be a large ape that was let go in the mountains from some person who could not handle the care of it anymore.

This was the official forest services answer to what this thing might have been . He gave me the names of three people to talk with that he knew was still around the area. I contacted a Larry Sandbern who was the owner of the Junction Cafe in Cave Junction from 1953-65 when the cafe burned down. I had a nice chat with him by phone. He told me he had a photo hanging on the door of the cafe for several months until a local forest service man complained to his superior about the display. It was removed by Sandbern in Feb 1963 and returned to it the owners. Sanbern told me the photo was of a large hairy apelike thing crushed under a big old growth fir. The reason the photo was removed wasn't the hairy thing itself but two forest service men posing next to it. This is why the supervisor took offense with it.

All in all I talked with four people who clearly remember this 1962 creature. These people did not want me to print their names but said the creature was much like the one filmed in 1968 in Northern California the "Patterson Film". There is no way this is a fake or hoax. A little homework and questions to the right local people goes along way in this mysterious event that I am now positive happened as told.

Truth...It will not break...

Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch, nay, you may kick it all about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening. ~Oliver Wendell Holmes, The Professor at the Breakfast Table

Let us give "truth" a chance. Use the search tool and go back through the old posts here on Ballyhoo and you will find much information on the 1962 Columbus Day animal. Several were there or had family memebers there. The Smithsonian admits to having sent the file to DOI, on and on....Linda Newton-Perry
