The following article is an article from Linda Newton-Perry's newspaper column, "A Matter of Time!" (Douglas County News)
The Believers Among Us
I enjoyed a conversation with a "believer" of Sasquatch last week at Bi Mart. When I was working with the paper a couple years ago, I pressed this individual into telling me about his encounter as a boy. Because of that conversation I knew he knew that these animals do exist.
While we talked this time, he was reminded of a story he heard many years ago. It had to do with miners in Alaska. After a hard day's work they were sitting around with "strong drink" in their calloused fists when a Sasquatch rained down rocks on them from a ridge above.
Each and every one of them had no doubt they'd seen a Sasquatch, but since "strong drink" was involved the story was never deemed credible.
In parting, I asked him to please write an article about his encounter as a boy. I will say no more about it, just in case he does write it.
... With all the fires in California, it makes me wonder if sighting aren't more numerous there. Please share your stories.
And again, I'll remind you, Bigfoot/Sasquatch is simply a hobby of mine. I've never seen one. I have, however, believed some of the videos on YouTube etc. could possibly be the real thing. With so many hoaxes, it is hard to tell.
But I do believe, one day it will be common to enjoy viewing these animals in our zoos. At that point, I will be no more interested in the animal than, I am now about elephants, zebras, and giraffes. Actually, I enjoy the tiny colorful monkeys more than the larger apes.
I do carry powered plaster in my car trunk, just in case someone can convince me they have a "real" Sasquatch footprint they want me to see. Again, with all the hoaxes, I may just tell the caller to take his own print. Do take a photo of it.
